Idris Elba joined the cast of Sonic The Hedgehog 2 to voice Knuckles.
Knuckles is a red Echidna and he’s the guardian of the Master Emerald in the videogames.
Elba joins James Marsden, Ben Schwartz, Tika Sumpter, Natasha Rothwell, Adam Pally, Shemar Moore, and Jim Carrey.
Jeff Fowler is set to return as the director after helming the first installment which grossed close to $320 million worldwide.
Idris Elba subtly announced his new role as Knuckles on social media. “Knock knock….. #SonicMovie2 #Knuckles,” he wrote accompanied with a photo of the character’s fist.
Elba recently starred in The Suicide Squad and Neflix’s The Harder They Fall and Concrete Cowboy.
