Rev. Jesse Jackson and his wife are still battling Covid-19. Last week, Jackson and his wife Jacqueline were hospitalized after testing positive for coronavirus.

In a statement released by the family Friday, August 27, they shared that Mrs. Jackson has been moved to an intensive care unit, and the reverend has been transferred to a hospital for physical rehabilitation.

One of the couple’s five children, Jonathan Jackson, said in the statement that his father’s symptoms are abating, according to CBS News.

“She [Jacqueline] had been real lethargic with flu-like symptoms [and] went to the hospital Friday,” he told ABC 7 Chicago. “Then it was diagnosed that she and my dad both had contracted COVID. She is having some oxygen but is able to function and breathe on her own without a respirator. Nothing severe. Because of her age and her current health, it is more challenging.”

As previously reported, the Rainbow Push Coalition announced that doctors are had been monitoring the condition of both of them. As of last week, Rev. Jackson, and his wife, Jacqueline Jackson, were both hospitalized at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago.

“Anyone who has been around either of them for the last five or six days should follow the CDC guidelines.” the Chicago-based international human and civil rights organization founded by Jackson said in a statement Saturday.

Rev. Jackson received the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine back in January at an event to promote African American confidence in vaccinations.
