Being locked up might be a challenge for most ordinary people, but rapper YNW Melly is maximizing his time while his legal team looks to avoid a maximum sentence.
Akademiks, Melly’s DJ and longtime friend, shared a cell phone video of Melly to his Instagram account with the caption “#ynwmelly got them Gucci shoes in jail n cooling while celebrating the release of his née [new] album “Just a Matter of Slime.” (It was unclear whether the error was intentional or not.)
In the video, which appears to be taken in the visitors area of his jail, Melly holds up a white Gucci shoe and says “it’s your boy YNW Melly and I want ya’ll to go stream my new album. Everything Gucci, as you can see” before inviting his followers to check out his new album, which is streaming on all major platforms.
The rapper released his latest album, Just a Matter of Time, earlier this week. The album features guest spots by major names such as Future, Young Thug, Lil Uzi Vert, Lil Baby, Kevin Gates, Tee Grizzley, Lil Tjay, YNW Gunna, Kodak Black, Lil Durk, Queen Naija, Hotboii, and more.
YNW Melly, real name Jamell Maurice Demons, is currently in jail while he awaits trial for the alleged murder of two of his associates.
