Tiara is the most popular accessory at the Met Gala in 2022

The 2022 Met Gala theme "Gilded Glamor" was inspired by the wealthy boom between 1870 and 1890, when old money competed for social standing with new money earned from construction and railroads. The Gilded Age provided the stars with the rich ground for fantasies: on the red carpet, there were sequins and diamonds, tassels and feathers, corsets and busts. And another obligatory accessory is a tiara. Event chairwoman Anna Wintour set the trend by wearing a tiara set with diamonds and peridots. In addition, she paired a Chanel multi-colored feather-trimmed beaded cape with a chunky diamond necklace with floral and teardrop motifs. In general, Anna made it clear that there is never too much glitter and jewelry in some cases. Hamish Bowles, who hosted the red carpet, followed Wintour's lead by wearing a vintage Verdura tiara in the form of antique feathers. The piece has an impressive provenance: the tiara originally belonged to Betsy Whitney, an American socialite and sister-in-law of Franklin D. Roosevelt. She wore it to a ball at Buckingham Palace in 1957, which she attended as the wife of Jock Hay Whitney, who was ambassador to the court of St. James. Hamish's co-host, YouTuber Emma Chamberlain, also opted for the tiara. At Emma, it was made in the form of a kokoshnik. This piece is from Cartier's archival collection and is reported to date from 1911. The tiara is embellished with elegant scroll and laurel wreath motifs. Like Anna Wintour, Emma enhanced the brilliance of her outfit with another bright piece of jewelry - a wide precious choker necklace with medallion links. Blake Lively, who co-chaired this year's event, was inspired by the Statue of Liberty. Her dress, designed by Atelier Versace, mimicked the statue's oxidized hue and even changed color as she walked up the famous Metropolitan Park steps. The actress topped off the look with a custom-made tiara by jeweler Lorraine Schwartz. It was an ornament with the same seven spikes as the statue's crown, and in total, it included 25 stones in complementary shades to Lively's dress to display the statue's 25 windows. https://ift.tt/mPHDaMz
